Three numbers make the visit productive: the width and depth of the bathroom, the distance from the finished wall to the centre of the waste outlet, and the height of the sill or window if it sits near the basin wall. With those, we can rule types in and out immediately instead of by trial.
Think about who uses the room. A bathroom used by older members of the family is better with a comfortable seat height and a solid grab point nearby; a children's bathroom is easier with a lower basin.
